    Cardiff Dore

A big welcome to the Cardiff Dore Forum or "Dorum" if you like...(cheers Eileen) I just wanted to use this forum as a way of saying goodbye to all the clients who came through the Dore centre in Cardiff. It saddens me a great deal that I cannot do this in person, nor can I do it at least with a personal email to each of you. Wynford's decision to close down immediately and without any warning has obviously robbed all of us of the chance to do this. It has also left a great many people high and dry financially, something that I find very hard to forgive. That the company has failed financially is evident but the manner of its closing is grotesque. My own story, only one of hundreds, is that on Friday about 1.10pm I was saying goodbye to a client after having booked them their next appointment and by 1.30pm the business had been liquidated. Whether Wynford personally is upset or couldn't care less doesn't concern me. What does is expressing my apologies and sadness to all of you who came to Cardiff. Working for Dore was always a rollercoaster ride but the two things that made it worthwhile were my immediate colleagues and yourselves, the clients. I've never worked anywhere that was simultaneously such a good laugh and made such a permanent difference to so many lives. I wish all of you the very best for the future, and I have no doubts you will be successful in whatever you end up doing as I have personally witnessed your strengths and talents. Just don't set up a business peddling cures for learning difficulties...

     Cheers,

     Michael xx

Hi Michael, we had you as PS on several occasions, we are truly sorry for the current state of affairs, can you see a big thankyou to Vicky for us and Matt. It is really sad that such an excellent programme that actually works is to taken away from those that need it.

ironically our son has been reading a chapter a night this week independently and actually commented that he understood it all, we were coming to the end (18 months)stuck it out and are at last seeing the 1 thing that I so desoeratly wanted from the programme for him(not to mention all the other pfantastic improvements)

Thanks again to all staff .at Dore Cardiff.for your dedication.

I would really like to add my thanks to Eileen.  She was my oldest son's PS and is now my youngest son's PS.  She was an absolute star.  She was always available with help and advice and a laugh, replying to emails almost immediately.  She gave an enormous amount of support to me with my oldest son who was not always terribly easy!!!!!  My youngest son hasn't been on the programme too long, but it was very important to me that we had Eileen as our PS again for obvious reasons.

Everyone at Cardiff was so kind and helpful and I am very, very disappointed that it has ended like this.  I feel so very sorry for all the staff who clearly had absolutely no idea that there employment was about to finish.  It also concerns me what will happen with my son.  He was due to go on Friday so we only have limited exercises left.  What is going to happen then?

Here's hoping that there is a favourable outcome for staff and clients to this mess!

    Michael,

I think I must have been you I met at Cardiff on Friday afternoon. My son Leighton was to attend his 6 week appointment when we had a call in the car to say it was cancelled. He is 12 weeks into the Dore course and hopefully it will continue and all you guys will be back there.

Can I say how sorry I am for all the people on the course and also you guys. I could see how emotional and upset you all were and it was obvious that you were as much in shock as the rest of us.

I do truely hope that the course will kick off again but if we don't meet again I wish you and all the other staff the very best for the future.

    Hi everyone,

I'm Tracey and i was also a PS at Cardiff. We are all so heartbroken at the news of Dore closure, and like Mike said its so upsetting that we dont get to say goodbye to all our clients. I have only been with Dore since October but i was so happy. The clients i have seen had grown so much and had so much benefit, i am gutted that i dont get to help you to the end of the programme. All i can say is dont give up, all of you have what it takes to do well.

After we got the news all of us just chatted about the good times we had and the clients we will miss, which is the hardest thing for all of us. I keep thinking about you all and hope you know how much we will miss you. I wish i could contact you all individually but thats not possible.

Best wishes for the future to all our clients and all Dore staff. Lets hope that they find a way to help Dore continue to change peoples lives.

    Hi Everyone.

I also used to work at the Cardiff centre as a PS. I just wanted to reiterate what has been said by Michael and Tracey. Working for Dore has been one of the most rewarding, awe-inspiring and humbling experiences. I was shocked and saddened by Friday’s announcement, and only wish that I could have had the chance to say goodbye to some of my remarkable clients. You have all been in my thoughts since Friday and I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for all your effort - we will really miss you guys! It is just such a shame it had to end some abruptly when I know so many of you were really seeing the benifits.

The Cardiff office has always been filled full of excitement and fun and this is how I will always remember it. I also just want to thank the team of staff that I have had the privilege to work with over the past months; not only at Cardiff but also during training in Bromely. My life has been enhanced by knowing all you wonderful people and I cannot thank you enough for that.

I wish you all, clients and staff alike the very best for the future,

    Elinor Hammond.

    Re: Cardiff Dore

To each and every member of staff at the Cardiff Dore Centre, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!!! Vicky, Matt, Tracey all of you have made such an incredible difference to Danielle's progress. You're little words of encouragement, the fact it was so obvious just how much you all of you cared. Vicky knows that recently Danielle has been reluctant to do some of her exercises and since Vicky spoke to her we have had no problems with her whatsoever. We had an appointment last Tuesday and when we got home and opened the book there were little handwritten words of encouragement just for Danielle. It's those little touches that really meant so very much.

Although there was always a 6 week gap between appointments, the conversations always picked up as if we'd been there the day before. Lots of laughs, encouragement and an abundance of kindness. Well done to Matt for picking such an amazing team. And Matt, well what can I say ..... I think his smile said it all and I know Danielle thinks the world of him.

If we never get the chance to see you all again then please let me take this time to say a huge thankyou from the bottom of my heart. I want to wish you all the very best in the future and if any of you would like to keep in touch please just send me a message and I will forward you mine and Danielles email addys.

Lots of hugs from Danielle aswell Big Smile Take care xxxxx

If at first you don't succeed, try try try again ;-)

    Re: Cardiff Dore

To all of the staff at Cardiff DORE - THANK YOU so much from us . Seth has been coming to see you for over a year now, and during that time we have met quite a few  of you a various occasions. We were due to come tomorrow and will miss the continued support you gave both of us, him to work hard with his excersises and me to support him!

I'm so sorry about the way you found out that the centre was to close, I am sure you must all be devasted, I can only hope that things will resolve quickly as I know personaly what it is to be suddenly left without a job and financially in a very worrying position.

I really want to say what a wonderful place the DORE centre in Cardiff was and how much we always enjoyed our visits. Thanks for all the encouragement and support you have given us over the last year.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to ALL of you. All the best for the future!

Thank you all for your lovely messages it is nice to know that although things have been left in such a horrible way without any warning that you are all doing so well. I will really miss my job as a PS and am so sorry that I did not get to say goodbye and goodluck to you all. Every client that I saw was special in different ways and I will miss all of you. I hope that you do continue with the exercises and get as much benefit out of them as you can, as you have all seen so many changes so far. I will miss working with everyone at the centre, but hopefully some good will come out of this awful situation for all of us. Keep it going and your all in my thoughts.

    Best wishes VickiWink

Don't know whether Eileen reads any of these messages BUT many, many thanks for all the encouragement you gave to Tegan whilst she was under your care in Cardiff.  We were only 2 weeks away from Tegan's final assessment when things went pear-shaped for DORE.

Anyway, I was so proud of Tegan last week as she was presented with the award for "Best Effort in work for Year 3" at the end of year presentations at the Junior School. She would not have achieved this without the DORE programme.  So thankyou again Eileen for all your help, advice and encouragement over the 20 months that we were with DORE Cardiff.

    Re: Cardiff Dore

Will they ever reopen the cardiff branch? Everyone was so nice and help full, it s was also just down the road and without transport I can't get to Kelinworth which seems the only place open, I am still paying for a service I am not receieving and being on benefits as a carer thats two weeks money for me. If I stop paying for this non service I will be taken to court by zebra finance its annoying my family so much who feel I have been conned, I am trying so hard to stay positive with my ADHD, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia but with no hope of the center opening I am struggling to stay positive about my excercises and am begining to wonder if my family are right and I have been conned?
