    Practical financial information & advice

I've had a quick look for practical information for UK staff & clients to claim money owed:

Trading Standards is a good place to start for an overview. If you've paid by credit card that's the first place to start. The Insolvency Service has all sorts of useful albeit detailed information, including what to do if you are owed money by a company in liquidation.

Staff should read this guide to getting some wages back, up to £330/week, more detailed information for employees here (pdf). Forms and how to apply are at Redundancy Payments Service. You should apply for Jobseeker's Allowance immediately, as it can't be backdated & will affect how much you can get from the RPS.

Podblack has already looked at Australia, though it looks unlikely that anyone will get anything there. Be prepared that the same could be the case for UK clients, though it's worth a try.

If anyone knows anything, please post it here & spread information ASAP, as some claims will be time-sensitive.

I'm hardly an expert on consumer finance, if there's anyone who does know a bit could I suggest that you put up links and instructions?

    Thanks,

    Duck.

We paid by credit card in installments and our third payment  of £500 went out on the 6th May.II would guess that Dore knew then that things were going badly, these things dont happen overnight but they took the money anway. As it happened on the eve of a bank holiday I would urge everyone in a similar position ie card payment on a standing order/direct debit to get on to the card company first thing Tuesday morning and stop further payments just in case.

We are only on the 8th week of exercises but we paid the initial £500 with my visa.  Visa say that to claim anything back we must have something in writing from Dore.  I recieved my 'text' saying they had gone bust and was told I would get an email.  Visa says I can use this email as proof.  Guess what, theres no email from Dore in my inbox...............  Im sitting tight sizzling with fury over the whole thing!!!!!

Re: Practical financial information & advice

Excuse me BUT!!! If you pay by Direct Debit as you had the Credit Agreement offered by Dore you are still obliged to pay as it is the Credit Companies money not Dore's.  Please be very careful as you could end up in trouble.  Anyway If you did, like me do it that way 'you pays yer money you takes your choice'. It could be a great big TUFF.  We are a low income family, but to be quite honest in this situation that was the last thing on my families mind. All those people without Jobs, that poor man who was doing his utmost best for so many of us, the new clients who've had their hopes dashed.

I wish you'd just push off Duck, for a start we aint THICK. Go and torment some other Forum or as you are sooooooooooooooooooo clever go and use your energy on sorting out THIRD WORLD DEBT. Dont answer this Duck I aint interested!

I only paid the initial amount by Visa then my husband tried in vain to pay with his visa, but machine wouldnt accept it, down at the Dore centre, so he paid the rest by maestro.  Phoned bank and they say they cant help as we paid via maestro so here's hoping that Visa will atleast give us the initial payment back.  Oh how I wish my husbands card had been working that day !!!!!.

Ps this Duck guy is really trying to help, I have now read some of his comments from months ago (before we joined this forum) and wish to god I had seen them before I parted (faithfully) with my money.

Pps, this is to the wider audience, I have read some of the other comments about Mr Dore and how he must be sooooooo upset and see's each of our children like his own hahahahahaha what crap !!!!! hes out to make money and he's F**ked up big time.  Dont worry about him, he will be sleeping peacefully in his bed at night, not like most of us !!!!!!!!

Sarah, thanks for reminding me to post something you should look at if you have a credit agreement. As I said, I'm not an expert, and I'd encourage people to contact the CAB or another source of more qualified advice, but hopefully this will give people somewhere to start. If you have better information, please do pass it on.

You are of course right that, as I said above, people should be prepared not to get anything. However, I do think it's worth a try for those who can. Since for many it will be 'the last thing on [your] families mind' then I hope providing the links might save some people the hassle of looking for them.

Of course, you don't have to try getting your money back if you don't want to, but £2000 could pay for a lot of help for a child. FWIW I'm dyspraxic, and the most useful thing for me has been a computer costing less than a quarter of that.

I'm working on Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (no, seriously...), but my best efforts so far haven't quite got as far as the end of capitalism!

Please Wynford if you are reading these posts, remember that the people attacking you are in the minority. Most of us know that you care deeply about us and our families and know that you are trying your best to help us. You have been so lovely in your messages to my daughter when she has contacted you in the past. Thankyou from the bottom of my heart for what you have done for us and what you are trying to do now. As for Markaessex, he came onto this forum pretending to be considering the Dore programme and then started trying to push learning breakthrough. He has recently posted threads personally attacking some very lovely people. Go and bother someone else Mark.

Stay strong Wynford. Most of us are right behind you.

Re: Practical financial information & advice

He's the reason I dont go on this site anymore, he turned it from a happy family to a critical, nit-picking load of rubbish and I know exactly what I and my family need and its him to bog off and leave us alone to support each other not condemn and turn us into a load of selfish, out for what we can get, load of dead-beats. I re-iterate, we can all find that information after all we are on the internet.

So sorry, I will not thank him for destroying what was a brilliant site.

BTW I think my advice was probably one of the better bits you will get and I aint got a degree and I dont believe you picked up on it.

Now I dont want anymore answers.  I too have a grieving process going on here. He doesn't

Katrena - might Visa accept the DORE website announcement as 'written proof'?

Sarahq, I've not got a degree (yet) either. I'm not sure why this is relevant. Who were you addressing in your last post, Mark or I? I don't think I've 'condemned' clients of those who worked directly with patients. For the rest, I'm sure what went on will come out soon. 'selfish, out for what we can get, load of dead-beats' - hardly, if you're willing & able to put that much money for your child's benefit then it should be used for your child, not to pay administration accountancy fees as is happening to those who paid in Australia. FWIW, I set up the back-up forums (http://dore.usersboard.com/index.htm) though they are now entirely run by Debbie & Bugalug.

I think most of the things I've posted so far will allow people to reclaim fees and wages other than through DORE, so it won't make any difference to how things turn out for the organisation. I'm not an expert, so please read what applies to you then decide.
