re dore project.Going for assessment at the beginning of May

    Hi all!

Just wanted to introduce myself. I would be interested in hearing from others to see how the exercises are going and if you are near the end of your completion.

How are things going. What improvements have you seen. Know this will be different for everyone.

Looking forward to hearing from you all.xx

My son, Thomas has just finished the program, it took a full two years to complete. When he first started we had terrible tempers, he would pysically attack me, his Dad & his little brother. He really nfrightened me when he started to kick off. I knew something was wrong, but school didn't admit there was a problem with him until he started junior school, they just used to say " thats just Thomas". when they did admit the problems, i felt like punching the air! We have seen amazing results with Thomas, the tempers almost stopped imediatly, his concentration improved 100%. His handwriting has improved dramatically. He can talk for England, his confidence is now sky high( he even sang a solo in the school concert, which would have been unheard of two years ago)  keep on going, the Dore program really does work. Thomas still struggles with maths( i think he always will) and he still can't ride a bike, but he continues to make steady progress. He is a happy lovely young man and i am very proud of him.                 Catherin Marshallxxxx

    Angelic Charm

My daughter Leila is 2 years post Dore and is now a normal happy 13 year old learning on a par with her peers and knows what she wants out of life. Nothing dramatic you may think except she had global learning difficulties, was 3 years behind her peers and had autistic traites. She spent the first 9 years of her life in a "Fog" which affected her ability to comprehend most things we take for granted in life. It was finding Dore which finally gave her a normal life which I will always be truely grateful for.

Her brother Kieran at 7 has been doing Dore since January 2008 and is also making progress. His problems are mostly with spelling, reading and writing, he has jumped 5 levels in his english since he started in January. Little jumps IE spaces between words, full stops and comma's etc. It took Leila 18 months to finish, Kieran we will wait and see because his issues are not as severe as his sisters were. Ellie XXX

Thanks Ellie for your kind words. I feel like a weight was lifted when Thomas started the program, he really is a changed boy. Like your daughter i do believe he was living in a fog before the program. My only bug bear is~ why on earth is this not provided by the NHS. It could help so many more children, we paid & believe me it was worth every penny, but not everyone can afford the costs. Good luck with your son.        Catherinexxxxxx

Thanks Catherine it is lovely having another post Dorie mum, who has been through it and come out the other side with a changed child.

As you and bugalug said it should be available on the NHS and Dore are trying to get the treatment recognised, but there always has to be so much red tape and general suspicion of anything new. There are also those who will worry about how it will impact on their own treatments for learning difficulties, so it does come down to money in so many instances.

We can only hope that the future will make the politicians and learning difficulty establishment realise that there is a treatment out there that can give so many children a normal life. We will keep hoping. Ellie XXX
