    Taking time out....

Its now very nearly 2 years since Jordan finished the Dore programme.  He is doing so much better than we ever thought possible...the days of being called into school because of 'bad' stuff are long gone and the little boy who was labelled slow, naughty and lazy is now acheiving grades that are higher than his peers.(most recently 5c in science, 4c in maths and 4c in english comprehension ...go figure)  This school have been fantastic with him, it makes such a difference!! I recently saw some homework he'd done and it was SO neat!!!! I dragged his old writing book out to compare..well there just isnt any comparison!!!! Ive asked for a copy of it....which brings me to my point..kind of....when I get a copy of this homework, Im going to file it away along with the old handwriting book and other pre dore/dore type stuff (eyetracking results etc).  As I posted on the bragging rights thread, Jordan has been picked as one of the children that is going to be presented with a special award for 'outstanding acheivement' from school for this school year.  Those of you who have children that cant/couldnt even spell/write or sit still long enough to print their own name will appreciate how this IS such a big deal for us....(maybe parents of kids where it comes naturally dont 'get it'?).. but we all feel the time is right now to take some time out and take a step back from the whole Dore thing.....draw a line under it, file it away, until this time next year, when we will be looking at putting K on the programme (he will be seven then and has Aspergers *for those of you who dont know*) Ill still be around (girls you have my email I EXPECT updates!!) but maybe not quite as active as I have been xxx

I hope that the story of Jordans remarkable journey along the Dore road will/has inspire others and I hope that every child that needs Dore gets it!!!

No one will ever convince me or Jordan that the changes we have seen are some kind of 'con' or 'placebo' effect...(and if thats what people wanna think..good luck to them..they are the ones who will miss outSad ) and I thank Wynford for his support and determination, when he could quite easily have said..Susie is ok now..thats all that matters!!

Work is picking up and I also have the option of working with parents and schools, on a voluntary basis, to ensure childrens SEN's are being met..Im quite passionate about that (to say the least!!) so Im going to be keeping myself busy and out of mischeif!! (kinda!!)Stick out tongue

So to all my lovely 'Dore' friends..(the Dore sistahoodWink)bugalug, frazzle, lelly, miss ellie, guinea pig and eleanor, debbie and laura,Sarah and jacob, roseM, Jo, Jenny, Wynford, Susie, Rosie and everyone else...keep up the good work ..

And to the DORE BASHERS....I'll still be around and jumping on your ridiculous posts if I see them!!!.....Angry

Hi Eraina, what an inspiration both you and Jordan are. Dore does take over your life a bit doesn't it. I can understand your need to have a rest from it before starting all over again. At least next time you will start it KNOWING it works instead of just hoping. The voluntary work  sounds like it will suit you down to the ground (bet it doesn't keep you out of mischief though lol!). Will keep you posted about Laura's progress. Big Hugs!!!!!  Right Hug

It can overtake your life at certain points. But as long as you have your computer on, I know your not far away, and are there for advice.

Enjoy your new role, hope it won't be too stressful, I get wound up at the some schools/LEA's inadequacies.
