New Start and Pumping up the Ball!!

    Hi everyone,

Just thought I would say hi.  I'm 1 week into the programme and so far so good.  I'm a wee bit older than most I expect, a young at heart 35 year old.  Better late than never I suppose.

One thing I had a problem with straight away however was getting the gym ball pumped up.  Finding a cheap pump with an appropriate adapter was easier said than done.  Having no one to help didn't make it easier either.  However I managed to stumble upon a brilliant little pump for only £2.84 and only needs one person to use.  It is so small that it if you need to travel and take all your kit with you it can easily fit into a side pocket of a bag.  Even though it's small it gets the job done in minutes!

I found this at www.physique.co.uk where you can also buy a plug remover for the ball aswell.  This would cost you a whopping 66 pence!  A real bonus in saving your nails!

I'm actually surprised that these two extremely cheap items are not provided by the Dore programme considering the cost.

I hope that's of some help to some people ou there.

     Good luck

     Al

Hi Al, welcome to the forum. Well done for starting the programme. What problems do you have?

I'm surprised you had difficulty finding a pump for the ball. Every pump I've seen has the correct adapter. I got mine in a local shop for 75p and it works fine. I guess it probably depends where you live. Good luck with the programme. Let us know how you get on.

Cheers Debbie, thanks for your reply.  That just epitomises me, having dramas finding a suitable pump and inflating the ball!  It does make it a wee bit more awkard too as I'm completely solo on this mission.

Hope all is going well with you, I'll keep you posted.

Well done for having the courage to do the programme alone! It can't be easy. Keep posting on the forum. You'll find lots of support to help you stay motivated when things get tough. Good luck!

    Hi Al

This is another Debbie here from New Zealand. Would be very interested to know how you are getting on as it is sometime hard to get information from 10year old boys (my son) on the programme. You no doubt will be a little more articulate!  All the best.

I blow mine up with my mouth, even cheaper!

Jacob had his check up today and may not have to do the balance exercises anymore.  Hopefully this is the beginning of the end. Yippeee!!!!

Nice one, that is a bonus!

I'd be unconcious if I tried that, think they gave me the largest gym ball in the store room!

Congrats with Jacob, fingers crossed for you.

Oh Sarah, that's so funny!!! I'd be there for weeks if I tried that.

Good news about Jacob and his balance. We were told at Laura's last assessment that she would probably be signed off the balance exercises next time too. Looks like they're at roughly the same point in the programme. Keep us posted. It will be interesting to compare notes. Good luck.

Hi All. Not meaning to burst any bubbles (or exes balls as we're on the topic!) but you don't get signed off the balance exes. You will always have to do the blue, red and green ones. However, you may well get signed off doing the balance (so that when you come to appointments you won't have to do the balance anymore). Will still require you to do balance exes to maintain the level your at until you complete/finish. Hope that makes sense? Many thanks, Lloyd

Thanks Lloyd. It's a lot clearer now. I remembered you saying last visit that Laura may be signed off the balance soon and when we got home we couldn't believe we hadn't asked what it meant DERRRR!!!!!! Bit of a vague moment I think. I asked around but no one seemed sure what it meant so we were just guessing really. It makes lots of sense now. Thanks!!!

I did know what I was on about, I knew it wasn't the ordinary exercises, just the ones at his assesment.
